Product Attributes/Options Tab

Product Attributes is the first tab in setting up attributes for the product.

Attributes can be added from the category that product is added to, or they can be added from any attribute available in the system. Moreover, in this step user can create easily new attribute. At the top, user can select which attributes will be displayed in the Available Attributes list box. When Show Attributes used by Other product in this Category is selected, only those attributes that have been added to the current category (see chapter on Categories) will be displayed. The current category is the category, or categories, that the product will be added into and is displayed in parenthesis. This can be changed in Product Definition Tab. Show All Available Attributes will display all attributes that have been available in the system.

Attributes can be quickly searched by typing in search criteria at the top of the list. Clicking the Search button will activate the search.

Creating a new attribute is simply done by clicking Define New Attribute. Clicking Edit for an attribute opens up Product Attribute Details. When check box ‘Use recurring price and cost’ has been activated under CPQ Setup → General → Application Parameters → General, new fields for attribute value ‘Recurring Price’ and ‘Recurring Cost’ will be added in table for attribute values. Also, there is a new check box that is labeled ‘Show Recurring Price’. For more details see Recurring and Non-Recurring Prices.

Clicking the symbol will bring up the Attribute Where Used screen which will show all places where the attributes or attribute values are used, as shown in the image below.

When a user edit attributes options and values are displayed. Each attribute is divided with settings for the attribute itself and settings for the attributes values:

List as Line Item: Attributes (options) marked as line items will be listed as separate items in the shopping cart and in the quote.

If the User Can Enter Quantity field is checked then the user can unconditionally enter a quantity. An expression can be entered which allows them to enter a quantity only under certain conditions.

Required – Users will have to provide input in order to complete product selection/configuration.

Inherit Quantity from Parent- Determines if the quantity of this attribute changes when the quantity of the main product changes.

Description – When a attribute is set an line item this description is displayed. It will be shown in the cart where the attribute value would normally be.

Rank within the Cart-Determines whether this attribute will be required selection or not

Required – Users will have to provide input in order to complete product selection/configuration.

Display as-Set how the attribute is used and displayed to the user.

Span across entire row in configuration-Enables attribute to be spanned across entire row in product configuration. (If custom xslt configurator transformation is in use, and not default one - see following Custom Configurator XSLT settings.)

Custom Label – Standard Label will be Choose <attribute name> or Enter <attribute name> (for free input attributes)

Hint-Hint or Calculation expresion. If not set as a calculation attribute, any text entered here will be displayed as a tool tip.

Inherit Product Type from – Line items inherit product type from the main item by default. Select another product to override where this line item inherits product type from.
In section Manage Triggers and Manage Attribute Absolute Position user can adjust triggers and position attributes.

Select all values selects all attribute values.

Hide unselected values hides values that are not selected.

Show more columns shows all other columns which were not shown here.

The Reference Product field allows you to reference another product with this attribute. This allows you to set up a multiple product configuration such as Configuration System and Collection of Configured Products. When Reference Product is selected Display Value for that Attribute Value will change to Product Name (because that is what is shown to the user). When reference product is selected, and if that reference product uses pricebook, price fields will be replaced with view prices link. Clicking on this links brings back all prices for this part number from pricing tables. See Product Nesting for more information.

When reference product is selected and that reference product does not use price books, price fields will be read only and populated with the data from reference product.

Sort – Attribute values will be sorted alphabetically.

Preselected(default) -Determines if this value is selected by default.
