Special Characters, multiple selection, field size and type

Problem

  • Multi selection(checkbox, listbox,…) custom fields in Salesforce cannot be mapped to CPQ custom fields.
  • Inserting special characters in certain name fields may not translate correctly in the CPQ database which may cause unexpected errors. Quotes, commas, apostrophes, currency signs, etc. cannot be used in free input attributes. Commas especially cannot be used in free input number attributes (this will break any calculations or rules using this attributes).
  • Sometimes a CRM field has a character limit that is less than a CPQ field. For example, Salesforce has a character limit on fields for product description that is much less than the character limit set on the CPQ product description field.

Solution

  • Multiple selection(Check-box, list-box, etc) should not be used to define field(s) in salesforce because they cannot be mapped to CPQ custom fields.
  • Field Size and Type
    1. Standard oppty line item description field size in SF is 254 characters. Go to CPQ Setup»CRM Integration»CRM Item Mappings and modify the description mapping to use <*Eval(Left(”<*CTX(Quote.CurrentItem.Description)*>”,254))*> as the CPQ expression.
