Customizing the Quote

You can customize the quote by changing the UI design, adding tabs and custom fields, and customizing the document generation templates.

Changing the UI Design

To change the UI design of the quote for a user type:

  1. Click Setup » Users » User Types
  2. Find the user type whose quote styles you wish to change.
  3. Click the Edit icon.
  4. For classic design, select a quote style under Legacy UI Design > Visual Style (Shopping Cart/Quote). For responsive design, select a template under UI Design > Add new custom template.
  5. Click Save to finish.
    The selected style is now applied to the quote.

Each style differs in not only visual style but also in how discounting is handled. Nineteen different shopping cart styles come standard with SAP CPQ. For more information on each standard cart style, see Visual Styles.

Adding Tabs

To add tabs to the quote, follow the procedure below.

  1. Click Setup > General > Tabs
  2. Click Add New.
  3. Enter the Tab name.
  4. Enter the Default tab rank (1-9999).
    Tab ranks determine how the tabs will be displayed on the screen from left to right, lowest to highest respectively.
  5. Click Save to create a tab.
  6. To add the tab you just created to the cart click Quotes » Quote Tabs
  7. Click Add New.
  8. Select the tab you created from the dropdown Tab Name.
  9. Modify the Tab Rank.
  10. Click Save to finish.
    The tab is now added to the quote.

Adding Custom Fields

To create custom fields, follow the procedure below.

  1. Click Setup > Quotes > Custom Fields.
  2. Click Add New.
  3. Enter the Name.
  4. Select the field Type:
    • Free Form – Text field of max 2000 characters.
    • Attribute – Drop down with attribute values.
    • Date – Date input field with popup calendar.
    • Long Text – Text area of max 2000 characters.
  5. Select the tab to which you wish to add the custom field under Tab.
  6. Click Save to finish. \' The custom field is now created.

Customizing Document Generation Templates

To customize document generation templates, follow the procedure below.

  1. Click Setup > Quotes > Document Generation Templates
  2. Select a template to customize.
  3. Click Download Template under Filename
  4. Open and modify the template.
    The format and style of the generated PDF and DOCX documents is based on how the document generation template is laid out, including fonts, colors, and images. The quote template tags allow you to insert any information from the configuration, the quote, customer information, or user information. For more information, see Document Generation.
  5. Save the modified template on your computer.
  6. Click Upload under Filename.
  7. Click Browse and navigate to the modified template.
  8. Click Save to close the upload window.
  9. Click Save in the Document Generation Templates > Edit window to finish.
    The template is now uploaded.
